Nurse Leader Now Helping Travelers Earns DAISY Award

Nurses are in a giving profession, and always working for the betterment of others. Whether they work in bedside care, take on a role in nursing leadership, or choose to teach future nurses, they are dedicated to ensuring patients get the best of care.

One particular nursing leader has shown that time and time again throughout her career, including her years working in critical care, emergency nursing, nursing education, and Nicole K., RN, MSN, MBA, CEN, who now dedicates her talents to ensuring that AMN Healthcare’s travel nurses have the clinical support they need while on assignment, wouldn’t have it any other way.

In recognition of her continuing dedication to nursing excellence, Nicole was recently recognized with the prestigious DAISY Nurse Leader Award, given by AMN Healthcare in partnership with The DAISY Foundation.

Since The DAISY Award® was first established in 1999, more than 210,000 nurses and nurse leaders around the world have received this award to thank them and honor the extraordinary work they do for patients and families every day,

The rewards of nursing, at every stage

“I have been a nurse for 27 years. I have worked in the hospital setting for most of that time as a staff nurse, charge nurse, supervisor, assistant nurse manager, nurse manager, and nurse educator,” Nicole said. “I am now working to support travel staff and my diverse background in nursing is an asset.”

“There are many things I have loved about being a nurse in all the different roles I have had over the years. In direct patient care, it’s about making a patient’s hospital experience the best it can be, being there for the family when their family member is not doing well or has died.”

“As a leader, [it’s] being there to support the staff in a variety of ways so they can
do the best they can for the patients,” she continued.

Supporting AMN’s nurses

As a clinical experience and quality manager for AMN Healthcare, Nicole currently serves in a remote role to support travel nurses working within the Allegheny Health Network in Pennsylvania. She’s available to answer questions and help solve issues that may arise, allowing nurses to continue providing the best care.

“In my current role, I love being able to be a resource or even just someone to vent to when the travelers have a bad day!”

Congratulations to all DAISY Award recipients

The team at AMN Healthcare offers our congratulations to Nicole and all the other recipients of this year’s DAISY Award, for continuing to showcase excellence in the field of nursing and nursing leadership.
