Vice President of Medical AffairsAsanteMedford, ORThe Opportunity:Asante, based in Medford, Oregon, seeks a dynamic, collaborative and service-oriented physician to serve as its next Vice President of Medical Affairs for the health system. This is an extraordinary opportunity to lead across a three-hospital system in Southern Oregon in a new role at Asante. The successful candidate will be ideally positioned to enhance system collaboration and identify opportunities for improved clinical efficiencies.The Position: The VP Medical Affairs will be a key leader, responsible for cultivating and further developing the relationships between the hospitals and their physicians. This role includes providing leadership for medical staff activities at the three hospitals, while interfacing with operations to ensure safe, effective, high-quality medical services are being delivered. As a system position, the VP Medical Affairs for the system is expected to be highly visible and accessible to facilitate provider collaboration and efficacy across the system. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer, this position will have a matrixed reporting relationship with a limited number of executives leading hospital operations. The successful candidate will develop and build strong teams, will lead by example to develop effective communication between medical service lines and will successfully advance Asante's history of excellent clinical care and outcomes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a record of progressive physician leadership roles. He/She will be a team player with experience in strategic planning and implementation of new clinical initiatives. Communication skills, including the ability to effectively mentor physicians, are critical in this role.The Ideal Candidate: • A minimum of five years of leadership experience within a health system, encompassing expertise with medical staff, peer review, and credentialing activities.• Must have an MD or DO license with board certification in the relevant specialty. Must hold current licensure in any state and be eligible for licensure in Oregon.• An additional advanced degree, such as MBA, MHA, or equivalent is required.• Leads team to ensure safe, effective, equitable, and timely care of patients.• Collaborates with entity CEOs to ensure that stable, aligned physicians and providers are available and accessible to patients seeking care.• Leads the ongoing Peer Review, Credentialing, and Privileging activities through the Medical Staff Offices at each campus. Leads ongoing improvement activities within these functions to advance their capabilities.• Oversees the medical care and medical outcomes at each facility, partnering with nursing leadership, medical staff leadership, and employees at all levels to maintain and improve quality and safety outcomes. • Demonstrates a high degree of analytic competency in the use and interpretation of data, and the ability to partner with other departments as needed to ensure accurate and timely data.• Demonstrated team player with experience in strategic planning and implementation of new clinical initiatives.• Partners with leaders across the system to create alignment and promote a shared vision.• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively mentor physicians.The Organization:Asante is a locally-owned and governed not-for-profit health system that serves more than 600,000 residents in nine counties throughout Southern Oregon and Northern California— the region's most comprehensive health care provider.
