The Opportunity The Fox Chase Cancer Center has partnered with AMN Healthcare to recruit the next Chief of Endocrinology. This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished academic endocrinologist to lead and further advance an established, high-performing program at an outstanding NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center.Reporting to Dr. David Weinberg, Chair, Department of Medicine and Audrey Weg Schaus and Geoffrey Alan Weg Chair in Medical Science at Fox Chase Cancer Center, the new leader will oversee the research portfolio and all clinical and educational activities of the division. The chief will have resources to support the mentorship, recruitment and retention of faculty and will additionally manage financial resources. This Chief of Endocrinology will be a key member of a busy clinical group, collaborating within a multidisciplinary environment and will help develop research programs within endocrinology. There is also a significant opportunity to further develop subspecialty programs.As an NCI-designated cancer, Fox Chase Cancer Center presents a unique opportunity for an academic endocrinologist to treat a wide variety of pathologies both related and unrelated to cancer. The Chief of Endocrinology will lead a team with a significant role in providing comprehensive care, treating all benign and malignant endocrine conditions, including the acute and chronic effects of cancer and cancer related therapies. At Fox Chase, and in conjunction with clinicians and investigators across the Temple Health System, there are outstanding opportunities to pursue meaningful clinical and research collaboration.With the resources and support from the Department of Medicine and other Fox Chase leaders, the new Division Chief will be well situated to deliver on stated goals: elevating and further developing the division’s research portfolio; recruiting, mentoring, and retaining outstanding faculty; managing efficient clinical operations; and nurturing existing relationships with the opportunity to expand the clinical footprint across the growing enterprise. The new chief will also be supported in achieving personal development and academic goals.Division of Endocrinology: The Division of Endocrinology is a growing division with the opportunity to expand at Fox Chase’s primary location but also to new satellite facilities. The program provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of patients with endocrine neoplasms, including thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, pituitary, and neuroendocrine. These specialists also study, manage and treat the consequences of cancer treatment. The clinical practice trends towards less focus on diabetes management.Endocrinology faculty members are dedicated to excellent clinical care, inquiry and innovation, and this is a wonderful opportunity to build upon and expand the research footprint of the Division. Temple’s Fox Chase Cancer Center is one of only two NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the Philadelphia region. It is a founding member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, a not-for-profit alliance of the world’s leading cancer centers known for setting the accepted clinical best practice standards in oncology. The Center’s research enterprise also serves as a prime contractor of the National Cancer Institute’s PREVENT Cancer Preclinical Drug Development Program. LKSOM recognizes that an environment enriched with persons from varied backgrounds working to address health disparity enhances scholarly work and the development of a culturally aware and responsive healthcare workforce.LKSOM comprises 21 clinical departments, 8 Basic Science Departments, 16 Research Centers, and 4 Clinical Institutes/Centers. More than 1,000 physicians and scientists share the mission of bringing innovative treatments to patients.The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at Temple Health, LKSOM employs approximately 30 MDs or MD/PhDs, as well as nurses, advanced practitioners, administrative, and research staff. The Department has five clinical divisions: General Obstetrics and Gynecology, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Pelvic Medicine, and Reconstructive Surgery (Urogynecology), Reproductive Endocrinology, and Gynecologic Oncology, in addition to a strong program in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. The department supports 25 residents and three gynecologic oncology fellows. and currently sees patients at Temple University Hospital and satellite offices at TUH – Episcopal Campus, Elkins Park, TUH – Jeanes Campus, in the Roxborough, Center City, and Bustleton neighborhoods, and in the soon to be open Temple Women and families Hospital in Juniata Park. The Division of Gynecologic Oncology counts five gynecologic oncologists (3 primarily based at FCCC and two at TUH-Main). There are three fellows (one per year) in the ACGME-approved gynecologic oncology fellowship program. The gynecologic oncologists perform surgery from minimally invasive (including robotic-assisted) to radical surgery (including intestinal and urological). Complex or high-risk surgery for benign gynecologic pathology is also performed, as well as chemotherapy and immunotherapy for treating gynecologic malignancies.The PositionFox Chase Cancer Center/Temple Health seeks a dynamic, academic physician to serve dual roles as System Chief of Gynecologic Oncology and Director of Gynecologic Oncology in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences, Lewis Katz School of Medicine/Temple University Hospital. Although operating primarily out of TUH – Fox Chase Cancer Center (FCCC), this position will be responsible for system-wide oversight of the division throughout all Temple locations, including Temple University Hospital (TUH) – Fox Chase Cancer Center, TUH – Main Campus, Temple Gynecologic Oncology at Chestnut Hill, and Temple Gynecologic Oncology at Holy Redeemer.The System Chief will Provide system-wide clinical oversight of all Gynecologic Oncology services at Temple Health and Fox Chase Cancer Center. This newly created role will focus on identifying opportunities to enhance and further integrate gynecologic oncology services across Temple Health in the missions of patient care, education, research and community outreach. The System Chief will engage with Temple Health and Fox Chase Cancer Center leadership to improve clinical care, quality and access to gynecologic oncology services throughout the region. Within LKSOM, the System Chief and Divison Director will foster scientific collaboration and innovation, leading the development and ongoing expansion of a robust clinical trials portfolio within the division.  The position will maintain a dual reporting structure to the Chair of the Department of Surgery at FCCC and the Chair of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at LKSOM.  Requirements

  • Board-certified in OB/GYN and in gynecologic oncology.
  • A record of achievement suitable for an academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor/Professor at the LKSOM.

  • Board certification in medical oncology.

  • Progressive administrative and operational experience working in an NCI-designated cancer center, with the concomitant understanding of the complexities of delivering care in a large system that supports research innovation. 
  • History of extramural funding, particularly in therapeutics or outcomes with experience and knowledge in Investigator-Initiated clinical trials, National Clinical Trials Network, such as ECOG-ACRIN or NRG, and industry-sponsored trials.  
  • Strong acumen and judgment in managing financial resources and the ability to develop and implement budgets effectively, aligning resources with strategic priorities. 
  • Experience supporting faculty recruitment, retention, and development efforts.
