Seeking a strategic and mission-focused administrative leader to serve as the Department Administrator, Cardiac Surgery, at one of the top heart transplant programs in the world, Vanderbilt University Medical Center!  The Position
  • The Department Administrator (DA), Cardiac Surgery, will be responsible for the management of departmental education, research, and clinical operations initiatives and will oversee approximately five direct reports. 
  • The DA will report directly to the Chief Business Officer in addition to the Department Chair and will serve as the departmental liaison when communicating with the hospital, clinic, Vice Chancellor’s office, and other internal/external offices. 
  • The DA will work to optimize financial performance throughout the department and will oversee the annual budgets, variances, spending data, compensation/bonus programs, and current policies.
  • This leader will collaborate closely with the Department Chair and faculty to develop and maintain strategic business plans, program expansions, and contractions to enhance the overall clinical productivity throughout the department. In addition, the DA will perform data analyses while providing professional guidance pertaining to growth opportunities.  
  • Seeking a strategic leader who will bring extensive administration experience and will be equipped to coordinate various personnel functions including hiring, merit recommendations, promotions, transfers, and schedules while actively monitoring training and education initiatives as it pertains to departmental and individual performance. 
  • Candidates will ideally be mission-focused and will seize opportunities to grow professionally in addition to optimizing organizational standards. This leader will preferably bring extensive data experience and will be equipped with exceptional knowledge pertaining to heart and vascular operations. 
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree is required; master’s degree is strongly preferred. 
  • A minimum of five years of progressive administrative experience within an acute care setting is required.
