Deaconess Associations Incorporated is seeking a mission-driven Chief Executive Officer.Position: Reporting to the Chairman of the Board, the Chief Executive Officer’s primary function is to ensure that the philosophy, mission, vision, strategies and values of Deaconess Associations Incorporated (DAI) are promoted, embraced and translated into appropriate action. The executive will serve as a key liaison in accomplishing the organization’s asset acquisition initiatives and accountable for maintaining and strengthening the financial viability of DAI to enable their pursuit of charitable endeavors. Direct reports consist of the CFO, COO, Compliance and Strategy Officer of DAI as well as the CEO’s of each of the five portfolio companies: Summit Home Care, Legacy Healthcare Services, Life Spring, Mays Home Care and Healthcare Bridge.Organization: The Deaconess legacy is one of compassionate care in the Christian tradition. Founded in 1888 as the first general hospital in Cincinnati, Deaconess today is an independent, not-for-profit enterprise managing a portfolio in excess of $1 billion of diversified health services, programs, investments and community grant initiatives in Greater Cincinnati and across the country. • Undergraduate degree required; Master’s degree and/or Clinical Degree preferred.
• Minimum of ten years of progressive experience in healthcare management; C-Suite level executive with a diversified healthcare services company preferred.
• Deep knowledge of industry and markets of the company.
• An energetic leader who is able to build trusting, collaborative, and effective relationships with key stakeholders and is able to effectively represent DAI in all settings.
• Visionary, strategic, forward-thinking, and knowledgeable of trends in home care industry.
• Strong background in healthcare operations (for-profit and not-for-profit) and significant experience in business development processes.
• Successful history of structuring and integrating business transactions preferred.

• Key areas of accountability include nursing and patient care services operations, nursing education, nursing and clinical practice, staffing/resource office and float pool, academic affiliations, and patient navigation/command center.
• Determines the scope and delivery of nursing services wherever nursing is practiced across the health system inclusive of Main Campus, Old Brooklyn, Parma, and Cleveland Heights, as well as all ambulatory locations.
• Creates and implements the organization's nursing care delivery vision and strategy that is incorporated within the organization's overarching strategic plan.
• Responsibilities include ensuring professional practice of nursing, establishing standards of practice for nursing, and providing overall strategic, administrative, and operational direction for nursing care.
• Collaborates closely with the CEO, COO, CCO/CPE (Chief Clinical Officer & Chief Physician Executive) and the CAO (Chief Academic Officer) and others, to reinforce organizational structures, systems and processes that support a patient centered and people first culture to drive clinical and academic excellence with an emphasis on health equity.
• Drives operational execution including but not limited to budget performance, workforce optimization and staffing, recruitment and retention, quality, patient safety and experience.
• Pursues top decile performance with a focus on execution and creates accountability and discipline for achieving results.
• Leads and focuses on driving staffing management, productivity initiatives, throughput improvements, and fostering a best-in-class experience.
• Partners with key stakeholders to develop a nursing workforce plan and strategy and supports internal and external partnerships to building nursing and workforce pipelines.
• Leads the development, implementation, and engagement in activities aimed at ensuring high-quality, patient and family-centered nursing and clinical care across all patient care areas.
• Has the responsibility for executing and ensuring that nursing and patient care are consistent with the mission, vision, values, goals and strategies and serves as the role model for excellence in healthcare leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN).
• Master of Science Degree in Nursing (MSN), Master of Business Administration (MBA), or other job-related graduate degree. Doctor of Nursing Practice or PhD in Nursing preferred.
• License as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio or ability to obtain.
• 8-10 years of progressive nursing leadership experience, including a minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a CNO.
• Demonstrated experience/expertise across the care continuum (inpatient, procedural, outpatient, post-acute).
• Demonstrated expertise with staffing, acuity, and workforce productivity software.
• Ability to articulate a clear vision for nursing excellence, fostering innovation, and driving strategic initiatives.
• Ability to lead and build high-performing teams, fostering collaboration with diverse stakeholders across departments.
• Distinguished track record of leadership experience and skill in managing and carrying out initiatives in a matrix organizational structure environment.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, including in a Magnet culture. Demonstrated knowledge of Magnet required metrics, and experience in compiling necessary documentation/evidence for successful Magnet designation/re-designation.
