Join Samaritan Medical Center, an accredited not-for-profit healthcare organization, as you take on the role of Director of Case Management & Discharge Planning in historic Watertown, New York!  The Position
  • The Director of Case Management & Discharge Planning is responsible for the planning, implementation, and maintenance of Case Management and Discharge Planning processes throughout Samaritan Medical Center.  
  • Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, the Director will oversee approximately 25 FTEs and will tactfully interact with patients, families, physicians, multidisciplinary team, and external resources to ensure the deliverance of strong patient and family advocacy.  
  • The Director will be responsible for the oversight of inpatient denial management, departmental budgets, PRI screen completion, ALC process, and will facilitate quarterly reviews of the PEPPER report. 
  • This leader will be responsible for the management of inpatient, outpatient, and observation patient cases to ensure that patients and their families are receiving consistent high-quality care in adherence to organizational, state, and federal expectations. 
  • The Director must display a high-level of innovation, collaboration, and problem-solving skills as it pertains to providing guidance and recommendations to current ongoing initiatives including decreasing length of stay, restructure, resources for uninsured/underinsures patients, and opportunity growth throughout the organization. 
  • Seeking a hands-on leader who will be willing to participate heavily in departmental, organizational, and community initiatives including task forces, revenue cycle work groups, Corporate Compliance Committee, and the community advisory board as it pertains to providing community resources.   
  • Candidates must be knowledgeable of accreditation and regulatory requirements, payer intricacies, CMC regulations, and Family Healthcare Decision Act initiatives to ensure that the organization is within local, state, and federal compliance. 
  • The Director will encourage strong collaboration and communication as they strive to foster positive working relationships with physicians, home care agencies, social service agencies, PCP offices, and hospice. 
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree is required. 
  • Active NYS RN license is required. 
  • Healthcare experience is required. 
Compensation Range
  • The base salary range for this position is $130,000 to $150,000 annually. In addition, a leader may be eligible for other benefits, including but not limited to health insurance coverage, retirement benefits, and bonuses. The total compensation for the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The base salary range listed above is a good faith determination of potential base compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.

  • The leader will play a pivotal role in advancing the department's technological capabilities, including setting up new API interfaces. Additionally, this leader will focus on maintaining and improving KPIs, and will conduct a thorough evaluation of the department to identify goals and areas for productivity enhancement.
  • Ideal candidates will be hands-on, knowledgeable, and collaborative leaders with a solid understanding of business development. Expertise with Medi-Cal and Medicare is essential.

Requirements

  • A Certified Manager of Patient Accounts (HFMA) is strongly preferred.

  • Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Sr. Director of Revenue Cycle is responsible for all aspects of revenue cycle management for the multi-specialty Health System that includes a critical access and rural hospital.
  • This leader with teach and mentor team members, as well as oversee the primary billing system EPIC as well as Hospital Billing (HB) and Physician Billing (PB) that complements the organization’s revenue cycle; experience with Method II billing is preferred. 
  • Ideal candidate will collaborate extensively with finance, compliance, clinical operations, and leaders to ensure the execution of a fully integrated, clinically driven revenue cycle and that the organization is on track to accomplish established objectives.
  • Seeking an empowered leader who will deliver comprehensive reporting to senior management that communicates relevant trends, KPIs, and analytical insight into performance.
  • Responsibilities include (but may not be limited to): interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving root causes of issues.
  • Minimum of seven years’ experience in a hospital or healthcare related field. Must have at least five years of management experience. Expertise in administering the internal and external data processing systems in relation to the Revenue Cycle. Expertise in Medicare, California Medi-Cal, Nevada Medicaid, CCS, CMS, TriWest (Campus), commercial insurance, state and federal funding programs.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CPSI and Epic OCHN in-house computer system, internet, timekeeping, and e-mail
  • Travel between sites as needed and to community events as required.
Requirements
  • Associates degree is preferred.
  • Healthcare experience is required. 
Pay Details
  • Pay Range: $190,000 – $200,000 annually. 
  • Final pay rate is dependent upon experience, education, training, and location.
