In addition to the administrative responsibilities described, the department head will actively participate in sponsored research and/or the delivery of clinical care.This new leader will be responsible for the development and supervision of faculty and staff and for the oversight, planning, and administration of the department’s operations and budget. The position includes clinical and/or research duties in addition to the administrative and academic roles and responsibilities necessary to advance the mission of the department and School. The department head conducts annual evaluations of faculty and makes recommendations on faculty appointments, reappointments, promotions, changes in faculty status, conferral of tenure, approval and renewal of faculty leave, and dismissals. The position also provides leadership and support for a broad range of initiatives, which include:

On July 1, 2024, the R1 institution of Old Dominion University and Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) came together to form Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University.Reporting to the Dean of EVMS, the Chair of Dermatology will be an accomplished physician, administrator, and inspirational leader, prepared to devote this phase of their career to the advancement of the faculty, trainees, department, and medical school. The successful candidate will be an individual with a collaborative, engaging, and open leadership style, one who can inspire faculty, learners, patients and potential donors.The Department Chair provides leadership in strategic vision and collaborative implementation to ensure the future growth of the Department. The Chair will work closely with the EVMS leadership, faculty, and staff and is responsible for the Department's overall clinical, research, academic, and administrative activities. Active in national activities, they will have a professional network that will be an important asset in recruitment and elevation of the national reputation of the department and institution. Additional duties and faculty rank will be influenced by candidate qualifications and interests, departmental needs, and clinical practice requirements, as applicable.The Ideal CandidateThe successful candidate should possess academic credentials that qualify for appointment as Associate or Full Professor, have a national reputation of successful research and/or leadership and demonstrate the ability to lead at strategic, tactical, and administrative levels, including experience managing space and financial resources. Chief of Pediatric Radiology   We are accepting applications and nominations for Chief of Pediatric Radiology, UT Health San Antonio. The Chief of Pediatric Radiology is the clinical, operational, and academic leader of the Pediatric Radiology Divisional faculty and staff appointed by, and reports to the Stewart R Reuter Distinguished Chair in Radiology.   UT Health San Antonio, one of six health institutions in The University of Texas System, is the major source of health professions education and life sciences research in South Texas and is a major center for patient care in South Texas. UT Health San Antonio is a comprehensive academic health center with more than 3,250 students enrolled in five schools: the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine, the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, the School of Dentistry, the School of Nursing, and the School of Health Professions. The University also offers cooperative programs in public health with UT Health Houston and in pharmacy with The University of Texas at Austin. In addition, collaborations exist between The University of Texas at San Antonio through the San Antonio Life Sciences Institute and a biomedical engineering degree program.    UT Health San Antonio’s pediatric radiology section provides comprehensive imaging services for the children of San Antonio. The patient population includes inpatients at the newly built state of the art Sky Tower of the University Health System, 58-bed level IV neonatal ICU at the university hospital, pediatric trauma (only level II trauma center in South Texas), pediatric and cardiac ICU. The Pediatric Radiologists also provide imaging services for the outpatient clinics including Robert B. Green Campus in downtown, Express-Med Clinic, Medical Arts & Research Center (MARC) in the South Texas Medical Center, and UT Health Hill Country. We offer all dimensions of imaging modalities including radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and nuclear imaging services.    The Division Chief leads collaborative efforts to ensure that they provide the highest quality pediatric care in a professional, cost-effective manner. The Chief works with the Department Chair to ensure that faculty are engaged in scholarly activity that includes provision of clinical training and mentorship to residents and medical students. The Chief, Pediatric Radiology promotes a culture of collaboration amongst the Divisional faculty that promotes clinical excellence, innovation, and scientific discovery.    The Division Chief is an advocate for and representative of the Pediatric Radiology Divisional faculty in Departmental and Hospital leadership activities. The Chief, Pediatric Radiology will embody UT Health San Antonio’s core values in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.   Education and Certifications:  
  • MD, DO or MD/PhD with a track record of leadership roles in an academic institution
  • Board certification by the American Board of Radiology and fellowship training in Pediatric Radiology

Chief, Pediatric Urology   OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois, the pediatric teaching affiliate of University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria, is conducting a national search to identify a new Chief of Pediatric Urology. The Chief will build upon an established and successful program previously ranked among the Top 30 in the country by the U.S. News and World Report. The incoming Chief will join two other Pediatric Urologists and will lead the further growth and development of the Division. The Chief will be able to leverage the institution’s strong, established, urological and multidisciplinary clinical programs and opportunities to participate in clinical research.   OSF Healthcare Children’s Hospital of Illinois (CHOI) is a 144-bed, full-service children’s hospital, with more than 145 pediatric specialists in 40+ subspecialties. Recognized as a regional leader, Children’s Hospital is the first state designated Pediatric Critical Care Center, home to the only level IV neonatal intensive care center outside of Chicago and is the Regional Perinatal Care Center for Central Illinois. CHOI is also the first state designated Level I Pediatric Trauma Center in downstate Illinois. CHOI has 64 neonatal beds, 8 level II nursery beds, 32 pediatric critical care beds, 16 pediatric oncology beds and 16 general pediatric beds with a swing unit that allows for up to 29 additional pediatric patients during peak census.    University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) is one of four regional campuses that make up the nation’s largest public medical school and is part of a 900-bed hospital district which includes two major teaching hospital systems as well as the medical school. UICOMP’s educational programs include 244 medical students and 300 residents/fellows in 21 different post graduate programs. The Peoria campus is the sponsoring institution of 13 ACGME-accredited residency programs and 8 ACGME-accredited fellowship training programs, with planning underway to add a Urology Residency program. The Chief will be eligible for a faculty appointment at UICOMP commensurate with experience.     The successful Chief candidate will have a proven track record in leadership, clinical excellence, patient care, mentorship and education with an entrepreneurial mindset. MD, DO or equivalent, Board certification or Board Eligibility in Pediatric Urology (Pediatric Urology Fellowship Trained or Pediatric Subspecialty Certificate), and eligibility for licensure in the State of Illinois are required. #LI-HV1
