Must possess, or be eligible for, an unrestricted medical license in Nebraska.The OrganizationThe Department of Internal Medicine is comprised of 12 clinical divisions and has approximately 319 physicians and 21 PhD scientists comprising the faculty within the department. More than 200 residents and fellows annually train in UNMC’s more than 80 renowned residency and fellowship programs (20 in internal medicine). As part of its growth, UNMC is expanding its MD program to rural Nebraska in partnership with the University of Nebraska at Kearney.Nebraska Medicine, UNMC’s primary clinical teaching partner, serves metro Omaha and the broader region with more than 1,400 physicians across nearly 70 specialty and primary care health centers. • Community Partnerships Build trust with community dermatologists and foster collaborative partnerships within UNMC.

This is a transformational opportunity to shape the future of dermatologic care, education, and research at UNMC, contributing to its mission of improving lives and health outcomes across Nebraska and beyond.The Department:Established in 2016 under Founding Chair Dr. Ashley Wysong, the Department of Dermatology has grown into a multidisciplinary hub of clinical, educational, research, and outreach excellence. Highlights include:

• Recruitment of 20 board-certified dermatologists since inception; department now has 16 faculty members.
• Launch of a dermatology residency program in 2019, now with 12 residents.
• Robust clinical operations spanning four Nebraska Medicine locations, Children's Nebraska, and the VA Hospital, with plans for a $38M clinical space to break ground in 2025.
• Specialized clinics, such as Autoimmune Bullous Diseases, Ethnic Skin, and Transplant Dermatology.

Education and Research:The ACGME-accredited residency program began in 2020, followed by a fellowship in Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology launching in 2025. Future plans include a Pediatric Dermatology fellowship (anticipated in 2025). Research areas include skin cancer, autoimmune skin diseases, infectious dermatology, and emerging fields like the skin microbiome and organoid programs, with extensive opportunities for collaboration in oncology and transplant dermatology.The Ideal Candidate:The University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) seeks a visionary leader to serve as Chair of the Department of Dermatology, an opportunity to shape the future of dermatology through innovative leadership, collaboration, and excellence.
