Tasks include assessing mental health needs, developing nursing care plans, managing a therapeutic environment, assisting with self-care activities, crisis intervention and counseling.  Psych RN’s usually work in patient facilities, health departments, mental health agencies, long term centers and correction facilities. Usually work directly with a person who has anxiety disorders, mood disorders, substance abuse, Alzheimer’s disease.Education/Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN): 4-Year Education 
  • Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN): 2-Year Education 
  • You must earn an ADN or BSN degree and pass the NCLEX to apply for a license as a RN.
