Welcome to Emory University Hospital Midtown, formerly known as Emory Crawford Long Hospital. At Emory’s Midtown hospital, some of the world’s top specialists are advancing medicine every day. In 1931, the hospital was renamed Crawford W. Long Memorial Hospital in honor of Dr. Crawford W. Long, the Georgia physician who discovered sulfuric ether for use as an anesthetic. Visitors to the hospital’s museum may see some of Dr. Long’s personal artifacts and medical memorabilia from the hospital’s early days. Emory Crawford Long Hospital was renamed “Emory University Hospital Midtown”, effective February 13, 2009. However, as part of Emory’s commitment to honor a more than 100-year history of the original name, ‘Crawford W. Long Memorial Hospital’ is retained on exterior monuments. Today, Emory University Hospital Midtown has more than 1,200 Emory Clinic and 440 private practice physicians spanning 28 specialties. Our Emergency Departments offer comprehensive emergency medical services to all age groups and staffed 24/7 by a highly trained team to meet the needs of the community. Our ED team is composed of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses and support staff. Our Regional Medical Center Emergency Department is a 54-bed state designated Level III Trauma Center as well as a Level II Stroke Center. The Regional Medical Center ED treats more than 60,000 patients per year. Our Nurse to Patient ratio ranges from 1:1 with our critical/trauma patients to 1:3-4 on all other patients.

EMR: MEDHOST (does not have med scanning) SCOPE OF ROLE: Will function as 1 of 3-5 nurses during the night shift with 1 provider after 11P. SKILLS: Experience with a busy ED, ability to triage, bedside procedures (lines, drains, reductions, sedation, etc. sending patients to surgery, CP/stroke/sepsis, psych patients, IP holds happens at times FACILITY SIZE: 123 NUMBER OF BEDS IN UNIT: 13 bed ED, with 11 bed fast care PATIENT RATIO: Varies depending on acuity and volume coming in DEPT. Care for patients with a full range of conditions, including complex cases, as a valued member of the Emergency Room (ER) nursing team. As an addition to this well-respected team, you can expect to work with fully equipped, state-of-the-art technology. Details: – 280 bed community hospital located 1 hour northwest of Nashville, not far from the KY border – Extremely busy ED unit, sees approx 180 patients per day, 1:4 ratio. All travelers should have recent expeirence in a unit with similar volume.
