Job Summary The Staff Nurse (SN) II provides and coordinates emergency nursing care for patients for a designated time frame. Participates in patient/ family teaching and provides leadership in working cooperatively with members of the health care team to maintain standards of professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. One year recent (within the last 3 years) experience in the Emergency Department. Certifications: Current BLS, ACLS & PALS card required. Minimum Qualifications: 1) High School Diploma/GED. 2) Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program and completion of the current hours required by the BRN of RN student clinical experience or Graduate of registered nursing and either 2000 hours of RN experience in clinical area of specialty from a licensed acute care facility within three (3) years of graduation; or graduate of an accredited licensed vocational nursing program that includes clinical student experience in acute care and has worked 2000 hours as an licensed vocational nurse within the clinical area of specialty within three (3) years before graduation or currently enrolled in an accredited entry level MSN program and has completed pre-licensure requirements to practice nursing. 3) Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in California. 4) Minimum of 6 months experience. This busy ER specializes in Cardiac, Pulmonary and Neurologic patient diagnosis, with an average daily census of 240-290 per 24. hours. Nurse to patient ratios 3:1 & 4:1 for all shifts.

Any special procedure done on the unit? Airway, EVD, external/internal pacing, and chest tube management. Rapid infusion (Level 1) use. Hypothermic protocol. IO placement. Ekg capture. Spinal immobilization, c-collar placement, blood product administration. TPA Administration. Common Equipment: IV pumps, cardiac monitors, ETCO2 monitoring. Titrate Vasoactive Drips- epi, norepi, dopamine, dobutamine, sedation/ pain meds, cardizem, cardene, etc.
