This unit provides intensive, comprehensive care and monitoring for medical, surgical, and cardiac patients having experienced shock, trauma, or other life-threatening conditions. This unit supports a mix of medical, surgical, and cardiac intensive patients. Job Summary The Registered Nurse ICU plans, coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. He/she ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the units standard of care. He/she demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the unit and organization; remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; and treats staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect. Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will occasionally be sitting and walking inclines and declines. Maintains and meets expectations on time for all competencies, license, certifications and education requirements as outlined by local administration, Adventist Health (AH), The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and all other regulatory agencies. Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcome; modifies the plan of care based upon evaluation. Meets clinical competency requirements specific to the Intensive Care Unit. Monitors hemodynamic status of patients to correctly interpret the findings. Participates in unit and integrated service projects to improve organizational performance. Performs head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments per policy. This includes pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations. Willingly performs other duties and innovations as assigned.

ICU Charge RN is also the Rapid Response RN. Set group of intensivists, rotate weeks – on-call 24/7 during on week. Extremely busy and fast paced environment serving a 500-mile radius. Level 2 trauma center, Stroke accreditation, 800 inpatient bed hospital, 80 ER beds. The volume and pace required to work here are that of level 1 trauma center

650 bed Level 2 Trauma center and Teaching hospital 27 bed Beacon Designation Intensive Care Unit that provides multidisciplinary care to a variety of patients with a specialty in caring for trauma and surgical patient population. The unit cares for patients that include a wide range of traumatic injuries including Spinal Cord Injuries, TBI, Extremity Fractures, and Solid Organ Injuries. Also cares for surgical patients including Craniotomies, Craniectomies, and Multiple Bowel Surgeries. A Brief Overview: The Clinical Nurse (CN) is an RN who provides hands-on care to patients, practicing in an evidence-based manner, within the Scope of Practice of the California Nursing Practice Act, regulatory requirements, standards of care, and hospital policies.
