A Brief Overview: The Clinical Nurse (CN) is an RN who provides hands-on care to patients, practicing in an evidence-based manner, within the Scope of Practice of the California Nursing Practice Act, regulatory requirements, standards of care, and hospital policies. Within that role, the CN performs all steps of the nursing process, including assessing patients; interpreting data; planning, implementing, and evaluating care; coordinating care with other providers; and teaching the patient and family the knowledge and skills needed to manage their care and prevent complications. The CN partners with the patient’s family wherever possible, considering all aspects of care, to deliver family centered care. As a professional, monitors the quality of nursing care provided. This unit provides intensive, comprehensive care and monitoring for medical, surgical, and cardiac patients having experienced shock, trauma, or other life-threatening conditions. This unit supports a mix of medical, surgical, and cardiac intensive patients. Job Summary The Registered Nurse ICU plans, coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. He/she ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the units standard of care. He/she demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the unit and organization; remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; and treats staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect. 8-bed Medical ICU. 1 Critical Care Technician per shift. Chest pain accredited center but no Cath Lab or IR – patients are transferred to Renown Regional campus for these services. ICU Charge RN is also the Rapid Response RN. Set group of intensivists, rotate weeks – on-call 24/7 during on week. Extremely busy and fast paced environment serving a 500-mile radius. Level 2 trauma center, Stroke accreditation, 800 inpatient bed hospital, 80 ER beds. The volume and pace required to work here are that of level 1 trauma center
