Dependent on background – prefers travel experience but will review Breast feeding friendly facility Rooming in Model for Mother-Baby Labor & Delivery and Mother-Baby are physically separate units right next to one another Travelers must be able to work all areas to include L&D, Antepartum, Postpartum, GYN and provide couplet care Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: PIH, GDM, Pre-Eclampsia, Eclampsia, HELLP, Shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, multiples, fetal loss, drug addiction, GYN patients – general cases Newborn: NAS scoring, bilirubin babies, 24 hr. labs Patient Ratios: Laboring: 1:1-3 Active Labor: 1:1 Couplet/Postpartum/GYN/Antepartum: 1:6 (goal); 1:7 (max) Minimum staffing – L&D: 4 RNs Day and Night M/B: 2-3 RNs (typically 2 RNs & 1 ICA) Required Certifications: RN: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Intermediate or Advanced FHM, CPI or MOAB CST: BLS, CST – nationally certified Skills required: RN: management of insulin drips, magnesium drips, Shoulder dystocia, circulating c-section, neonatal resuscitation, vaginal checks for labor progression; use of IUPC/ICP; Newborn care to include: NAS scoring, bilirubin babies, 24 hr. labs, ability to provide lactation support OB Tech: setup for vaginal deliveries, assisting with vaginal deliveries and repairs; OR setup and scrubbing duties during c-sections; management of delivery log, handling of sterile equipment, secretarial duties as needed Support on the Unit: ICA – Nursing Assistant and Secretary dual role L&D – dayshift only Mother-Baby – 24/7 coverage CST – 2 in house or 1 in house and 1 on call Charge nurse: 24/7 coverage for both L&D and M/B Phlebotomist – will draw any subsequent labs needed after initial labs are drawn with IV placement Anesthesia – available 24/7 – may have to physically come in if they are not on site House Supervisor, 24/7 RT, 24/7 OB, 24/7 Midwife, 24/7 – 97% of vaginal deliveries Telemetry monitoring – Central monitoring on L&D, M/B, break rooms, remote monitoring abilities for ICU/ED or Bed Towers Technology/Equipment: EMR: EPIC (preferred experience) IV pumps: Alaris Medication dispensing: Omnicell Fetal Monitoring: OBIX Floating: If yes, where?
