The Family Birthing Unit is a low-risk OB unit but is equipped to manage high risk stabilization until transport occurs. Nurses’ care for labor and delivery patients, postpartum couplets and stabilization of neonates until appropriate transport occurs. North Hawaii Community Hospital is a Baby-Friendly designated hospital and offers a collaboration of Physician and Midwifery services.

This department provides labor, delivery, and recovery (LDR) services. The OB Triage function is included here if performed by staff in this department.
