Chest tubes, traches, drains, wound vacs, IVs, PCAs, Epidurals (rare), IVABX, Heparin gtts; are not required to reading and interpret cardiac strips but it is preferable Tech: ADLs, Feeding, Tray Setup, answering call bells, V/S, blood sugars, ambulate patients, range of motion Support on the Unit: Charge nurse: takes assignment most shifts RT, 24/7 Hospitalist, 24/7 Centralized Tele monitoring tech The facility has one person to assist with difficult IVs and central lines, but nurses are expected to make two attempts to start their own IVs before asking for assistance. Rapid Response is not a designated separate team, but is attended by the in-house provider, respiratory, ICU & ED charge nurses, unit charge and staff nurses, and the nursing supervisor at a minimum. May float to ICU for Med Surg level patients May float to ED to task/as helping hands Orientation: (facility and unit) General hospital orientation 1 shift on unit Scheduling: Weekend rotation: Every other; travel pairs are allowed to work the same weekend generally Will they be on call?
