Common Diagnosis/Treatment: MEDICAL # of Beds: 26 Nurse Patient Ratio: 1-5 Charting: Cerner Scrub Color: Navy blue Areas of Float Support: Special Procedures: CHEMOTHERAPHY

Ideally we would like to have a candidate(s) that are credentialed to adminster chemo/immunotherapy medications. Any med/surg traveler can fill the vacancies but I would prefer to have someone that is able to administer chemotherapy. Nurse Patient Ratio: 1:06 Number of Beds/Cases: 24 Selling Points for unit:Great teamwork on the unit, positive/supportive culture Age Groups of Patients: Adults, and Geriatric Top 10 Diagnosis/Procedures: Cancer diagnosis (including some chemotherapy), palliative/end of life care, general med/surg – wound care, IV antibiotics, renal/kidney injury, pneumonia, COPD exacerbation, ortho/general/urology surgeries post operative Any special procedure done on the unit? Bedside procedures completed by procedure teams Common Medications used on the unit? IV antibiotics, IV chemotherapy, IV fluids/electrolytes, PO antihypertensive meds, PO electrolyte replacement, controlled substances – narcotics, benzodiazepines, other assorted medications to treat chronic medical conditions (i.e. inhalers, insulin and other anti-diabetics, etc.) Common Equipment: Alaris pumps, Kangaroo feeding pumps, etc. Use of Ancillary staff Does supplemental staff float Frequency: When needed – rare on night shift

ASAP start needed Manager Interview About Facility: Ambulatory Outpatient Cancer Program and Infusion Center Address: Portland, ME Chairs for Outpatient Cancer Clinic: 14 infusion chairs- 1- stretcher, 5 exam room General Information: Minimum Years of Experience required? RN: Ideally 2-3 years inpatient/Acute Med-Surg with Oncology (Chemo/Bio/Immunotherapy) and general infusion experience. Must have recent Chemotherapy administration experience. Will you accept a first-time traveler? Depends on past clinical and oncology experience. Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Adult Medical Oncology all sites, benign hematology General non oncology infusion patients needing IV medications Medical Oncology/Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Infusion Benign hematology: Irons, therapeutic phlebotomy Supportive care; Blood products, IVFs, Zometa Non-Oncology infusions- biosimilars, IVIG No acute leukemia Patient Ratios: RN: no more than 1:4 at any given time Required Certifications: RN: BLS – required ONS Chemo Certification (current ONS chemo immunotherapy administration competency card) – required ACLS – preferred Skills required: RN: Strong IV Skills including implanted ports, IV Chemotherapy/immunotherapy administration, Blood products, strong clinical assessment / judgment skills, good organization, and prioritization, electronic EMR savvy Support within the Department: Lead RN in infusion Center– carries modified assignment.
