start date must be 1/15 because its part of the EPIC upgrade Breast Surgical Oncology Office Practice – Ambulatory Oncology Requires a minimum of 1.5 years of related surgical experience; Breast Onc experience highly preferred. BSN and ONC preferred. Shift is 10 Hour Days, 4x per week, M-F. Day off during the week may vary.

8:00AM – 4:30pm Job Description: Assesses, implements, and evaluates care needed by assigned patients under the direction of the licensed physician. The RN is knowledgeable about principles, theories, current methods and techniques of nursing practice. Using the nursing process, the RN collaborates with the patient, patient’s family member(s)/significant others, professional peers and other members of the health care team to individualize patient care. Directs nursing support staff in the provision of patient care according to the standards of nursing practice, administrative and departmental policies and procedures. Professional education, training or additional certifications may be required by specialty area. Requirements: Education Bachelors Degree : in Nursing from an accredited Nursing program. Ideally we would like to have a candidate(s) that are credentialed to adminster chemo/immunotherapy medications. Any med/surg traveler can fill the vacancies but I would prefer to have someone that is able to administer chemotherapy. Nurse Patient Ratio: 1:06 Number of Beds/Cases: 24 Selling Points for unit:Great teamwork on the unit, positive/supportive culture Age Groups of Patients: Adults, and Geriatric Top 10 Diagnosis/Procedures: Cancer diagnosis (including some chemotherapy), palliative/end of life care, general med/surg – wound care, IV antibiotics, renal/kidney injury, pneumonia, COPD exacerbation, ortho/general/urology surgeries post operative Any special procedure done on the unit? Bedside procedures completed by procedure teams Common Medications used on the unit? IV antibiotics, IV chemotherapy, IV fluids/electrolytes, PO antihypertensive meds, PO electrolyte replacement, controlled substances – narcotics, benzodiazepines, other assorted medications to treat chronic medical conditions (i.e. inhalers, insulin and other anti-diabetics, etc.) Common Equipment: Alaris pumps, Kangaroo feeding pumps, etc. Use of Ancillary staff Does supplemental staff float Frequency: When needed – rare on night shift

RN: Ideally 2-3 years inpatient/Acute Med-Surg with Oncology (Chemo/Bio/Immunotherapy) and general infusion experience. Must have recent Chemotherapy administration experience. Will you accept a first-time traveler? Depends on past clinical and oncology experience. Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Adult Medical Oncology all sites, benign hematology General non oncology infusion patients needing IV medications Medical Oncology/Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Infusion Benign hematology: Irons, therapeutic phlebotomy Supportive care; Blood products, IVFs, Zometa Non-Oncology infusions- biosimilars, IVIG No acute leukemia Patient Ratios: RN: no more than 1:4 at any given time Required Certifications: RN: BLS – required ONS Chemo Certification (current ONS chemo immunotherapy administration competency card) – required ACLS – preferred Skills required: RN: Strong IV Skills including implanted ports, IV Chemotherapy/immunotherapy administration, Blood products, strong clinical assessment / judgment skills, good organization, and prioritization, electronic EMR savvy Support within the Department: Lead RN in infusion Center– carries modified assignment.
