The RN Clinical Periop Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. 11 suite OR sees Ortho, General, ENT, Spine, Urology, Vascular, Robotics and others. 500 bed Level 2 Trauma center and teaching facility that serves as a regional referral center. Meditech charting. Salem is a city of 25k, the Roanoke County seat, and an integral part of Virginia’s Blue Ridge region. The Operating Room Nurse demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment and leadership in the anticipation and planning for the care of the patient in the operating room. As a member of the surgical team the RN works with the Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, ORT’s and other personnel to provide patient care in the Operating Room according to State Nurse Practice Act, AORN and regulatory standards, physician orders, policies and procedures of the Hospital and the Surgical Department. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: ensuring supplies, timeliness of cases, communication with families, updating of physician preference cards, scrubbing and assisting physicians during surgical cases, and supervision of personnel delivering patient care.

Works with procurement to inventory and stocks supply cabinets
