This unit provides care for post-critical (step-down) medical or surgical patients who require observation and care at a level less than intensive care patients, but more comprehensive than that required by general acute patients. This unit represents a mix of medical and surgical patients including monitored or ventilator-dependent patients. If your unit is an intermediate-care unit but does not fit this specific description, please contact FP&A to discuss other options. NOTE: This department is only for direct patient care and does not include individuals only monitoring electronic devices from outside the patient room. Job Requirements: Education and Work Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN): Preferred Acute care facility experience: Preferred Licenses/Certifications: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required Department Specific License/Certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Healthstream Advanced Cardiac Life Support (HS-ACLS) or RQIACLS: Required Essential Functions: Collects relevant data pertinent to the patient?s health or situation. Analyzes the assessment data in determining diagnosis and care issues. Develops a plan that prescribes interventions to attain outcomes. Implements the plan, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment. Evaluates progress toward attaining outcomes. Identifies outcomes for the patient or the patient?s situation. Collaborates with the team of patient, family, and healthcare providers in providing patient care in a safe, healing, humane, and caring environment. Provides learning opportunities for patients/family members and team members. Directly provides health information to patients, families, and treatment team. Participates in discharge planning in order to provide continuity of care. Delegates appropriately and coordinates duties of healthcare team members. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

44 beds; 3:1 for 36 beds, 4:1 for 8 Beds Tele Intepretation. Diagnosis/Procedures: cardiac surgery, MI, irregular heart rate, COPD, PNA, renal failure, pacer insertion. CAPD. Titrate drips: Hep, cardiazem, Amiodorone, Dopa, Dobut (no titration)

-Performs independent nursing functions and delegated medical functions in accordance with accepted practice standards as defined by the state Board of Nursing. -Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care. -Evaluates health status through the ongoing collection and assessment of health data. -Performs health teaching and health counseling. -Provides therapy and treatment that is supportive and restorative to life and well-being either directly to the patient or indirectly through consultation with, delegation to, supervision of, or teaching of others. -Executes delegated medical functions. -Refers patients as needed for further evaluation or treatment. -Reviews and monitors therapy and treatment plans. -Documents in accordance with hospital and regulatory guidelines. -Uses resources as needed. -Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards. -Performs other duties as assigned. -May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need. -May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
