N:P 1:3-4 for the step down ratios Age Groups of Patients: Adults and Geriatric Top 10 Diagnosis/Procedures: ARDS, Sepsis, Neurosurgery, Stroke, Cardiac Surgery, Resp Failure, Multi Organ failure, MI, CHF, Diabetes Any special procedure done on the unit? Chest tubes, Central Lines, drains Titrate Vasoactive Drips- Dopamine, Dobutamine, Cardizem, Cardene, Amiodorane Familarity with Pacemakers (Epicardial as well as permanent) as well as expereince with vasoactive meds, Ventilators, chest tubes, Central Lines, drains

This unit provides care for post-critical (step-down) medical or surgical patients who require observation and care at a level less than intensive care patients, but more comprehensive than that required by general acute patients. This unit represents a mix of medical and surgical patients including monitored or ventilator-dependent patients. The intermediate care unit comprises of 18 beds and focuses on individuals who are experiencing severe, but usually non-life threatening issues requiring moderately complex assessments, moderately intensive therapies and interventions, and moderate levels of nursing vigilance. These patients encompass all types of general medical disease processes including post ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke, sepsis, cardiac, and respiratory. Our goal is the provision of clinical excellence and exceptional customer service in a collaborative, multidisciplinary, patient- centered environment.
