Delivers coordinated nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff, and coordinates care with other disciplines while utilizing critical thinking, professional and supervisory discretion, and independent judgment. Bachelor’s degree (BSN) preferred, acute care facility experience preferred, Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice required, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Age Groups of Patients: Adults and Geriatric Top 10 Diagnosis/Procedures: ARDS, Sepsis, Neurosurgery, Stroke, Cardiac Surgery, Resp Failure, Multi Organ failure, MI, CHF, Diabetes Any special procedure done on the unit? Chest tubes, Central Lines, drains Titrate Vasoactive Drips- Dopamine, Dobutamine, Cardizem, Cardene, Amiodorane Familarity with Pacemakers (Epicardial as well as permanent) as well as expereince with vasoactive meds, Ventilators, chest tubes, Central Lines, drains

We are an exciting team who always put our patients first! Additional Unit Information: Total # of beds in the unit: 24.Average daily census:22. Age Groups: Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics. Unit Patient population: Medical, Surgical, Neuro-Surg., Cardiac & Pulmonary Critical care patients, ventilated, Sepsis, MSOF, ARDS, Hemodynamic monitoring (arterial and pulmonary artery. Rarely cares for Pediatric patients. Certifications/Skills required: BLS, ACLS, Telemetry, Ventilator Management, Swans, CCRN. RN must have at least 2 years of ICU experience; if a work day is missed (e.g., sick call), it must be made up. No nasal, tongue or eyebrow piercing (one piercing in ears is okay. No visible tattoos. Special medications on the unit: Unit Dose System, Nothing special; usual ICU Drips. Special procedures: Nothing special, regular ICU procedures. Will not be assigned to Neuro-surgical patients with ICP monitoring; patients with pulmonary artery catheters, BIS monitor. Procedures that could cause ethical issues: Terminally ill patients that are still on ” Full Code Status”. Cases of Dometic Violence. Withdrawal of life support. Depending on census will float if necessary. Scrubs any color provided by RN.

The PCU is a 31 bed unit for the care of adult and pediatric patients requiring cardiac monitoring and frequent observations. The PCU Provides specialized intermediate level care. The care is rendered by skilled progressive care nurses and other personnel under the supervision of these nurses. Patients admitted to this unit include (but are not limited to) those acute and chronic cardiac conditions including acute coronary syndrome, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, and those that have undergone percutaneous cardiac interventions. PCU also cares for the majority of stroke patients. The PCU also cares for other medical and surgical patients with neurological, respiratory, gastrointestinal, orthopedic and renal disorders requiring specialized monitoring as well as those experiencing the toxic effects of drugs and alcohol. Types and ages of patients served: Adults through geriatrics age groups may be cared for in the PCU. Children sixteen years old or greater than 40kg may also be cared for.
