THIS IS A PSYCH PEDIATRIC CONTRACT General Information Located in Bangor, ME Beds: 92 — Peds – 36 beds; Adults – 56 Minimum years of experience required: 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing required Pediatric BH exp preferred – send to manager for approval if candidate does not have Peds experience Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes Patient Types: Free standing acute inpatient facility – contracted ER 5 min away All patients come from an ED and are medically cleared not typical to have lines, drains, tubes, etc. Children and Adolescents receiving inpatient Mental Health services – ages 5 – 18 Common diagnoses include, but are not limited to: Eating Disorders, Depression, Suicidal Ideation, Anxiety, Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Gender Dysphoria Traditional medical and psychiatric care in addition to specialized therapies such as: pet therapy, group sessions, recreation therapy (rock wall), community gardens Patient Ratios: RN: Day – 1:5-6; Night – 1:16 with resource support (including Nursing support) Psych Techs: Day – 6 Psych Techs; Night – 3 Psych Techs Required Certifications: BLS MOAB is obtained on site (part of orientation) Skills required: De-escalation experience, experience with physical restraints Support on the Unit: Nurse Supervisor – available evenings/weekends Nurse Manager – days House Administrator – available overnight and weekends Charge nurse – has patient assignment Psych Techs Nurse Practitioner; on site until 1600 and then on call overnight Psychiatrist – daily rounds and On Call 0000-0600 Occupational Therapist – 0800-1630, 7 days per week Charting System/Equipment: Cerner Pyxis Floating: If yes, where? Yes – between two pediatric units Orientation: (facility and unit) 2 weeks Mon-Fri – Days 2 (12’s) on shift contracted to Scheduling: Weekend rotation: every other; Sat/Sun Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed Will they be on call? No call Holiday Expectations: expected to work holidays in rotation Approval of time off? up to 7 days; if a full week must extend Other notes or things you want us to check/verify? Communicates changes in patient’s clinical condition with Physician’s, Nursing Supervisor/Manager, and co-workers as appropriate. Participates in discharge planning process.

The Inpatient Childrens Unit provides safe, secure behavioral health treatment for children and adolescents ages 5 to 17 that require acute inpatient level of care. Unit Size/Beds: 26 Expected Ratios: Days (3 RNs, 1:8), Eves (3 RNs 1:8), Nights (1 RN 1:26) Cases seen: Mood disorders, Disruptive mood dysregulation disorders, Suicidal ideation, Neurodevelopmental disorders (ADD, ADHD) Years of Exp preferred: Minimum 1 year recent psychiatric experience with child-adolescent population preferred Certifications required: CPI, AHA(BLS) CPR (hospital willing to provide on-site training)
