Additionally, the position offers a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS), located on the same campus as CHKD. It involves educating medical students, residents, and fellows. The inpatient psychiatric services at Children's Pavilion, CHKD's mental health hospital, is part of a full continuum of care, including partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient programs. Inpatient services are supported by pediatricians and four psychologists on-site who are integrated into the clinical care team. Care for children with complex medical and psychiatric needs and developmental disabilities is provided in three specialized units. The facility also partners with the main hospital at CHKD for medical and surgical needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Direct clinical care (at least half-time) and administrative duties, such as program development, teaching, overseeing medical directors, and quality improvement
  • Working closely with CHKD's nursing director and overseeing the 60-bed inpatient unit, aiming to reach Children's Pavilion's total capacity of 60 patients
  • Managing up to four medical directors and identifying growth strategies for inpatient services
  • Working primarily Monday through Friday with additional duties including training residents and fellows, on-call responsibility (1:7), teaching/academic responsibilities, media participation, community engagement, and leadership in scholarly projects and research.
