The Division of Geriatrics, Gerontology and Palliative Medicine in the Department of Medicine, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio invites applications for two available faculty positions.
The candidate must be Board Certified or Board eligible in Palliative Medicine. Ideally, there will be one inpatient and one outpatient provider covering MSRH during the week. The inpatient service line provides coverage from 9AM-5PM. On weekdays, this is performed in-house and on nights and weekends the service is provided by call coverage on an as needed basis. The outpatient service would be covered on weekdays, providing comprehensive symptom management to patients from oncology referrals and hospital discharges among other sources.
Academic responsibilities include attending to the board of regents’ rules, policies and procedures. Academic productivity and advancement will be strongly encouraged through mentorship and opportunities in the areas of clinical excellence, research and administrative leadership.
The Division of Geriatrics, Gerontology and Palliative Medicine currently employs 11 faculty and has one of the largest fellowship programs in the country. Currently the division is providing inpatient and outpatient palliative consults in partnership with the University Health System and the San Antonio VA Hospital. The incoming faculty member will have abundant research opportunity if desired through partnerships with Sam and Ann Barshop Institute for Longevity and Aging Studies as well as the San Antonio VA Hospital GRECC (Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center).
