Lead contract negotiations as the next Director of Managed Care Contracting at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters, located in the vibrant coastal city of Norfolk, Virginia!


The Position 

  • The Director of Managed Care Contracting oversees payer negotiations, network management, and strategic partnerships, ensuring optimal reimbursement, denial reduction, and access for pediatric patients while aligning contracts with organizational goals.
  • Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, this leader will manage two direct reports and collaborate closely with department directors to drive strategic initiatives.
  • This leader will be responsible for optimizing the credentialing, revalidation, and enrollment processes. Additionally, they will play a pivotal role in upcoming payer contract negotiations. Key responsibilities also include developing a comprehensive contract tracker to monitor expiration dates and reviewing current workflows to identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and inquisitive leader with exceptional organizational skills. They should excel in collaborative environments and possess deep expertise in contract negotiation.
  • This position is fully onsite, with no remote or hybrid work options available.


Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or a related field is required, while a Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in managed care contracting, network management, or payer relations within an integrated healthcare setting is required.

The Organization

  • Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters Health System, known as CHKD, is the preferred provider of quality children’s health services in the region, providing hospitalization, ongoing care for chronic illness, outpatient surgery, and primary care.
  • CHKD is a 206-bed teaching hospital with special units for neonatal and pediatric intensive care, cancer care, acute inpatient rehabilitation, medical and surgical care, and transitional care.
  • As a freestanding, full-service children's hospital, every inch of the facility and all its members are devoted exclusively to the needs of young people, and patients benefit from the full range of pediatric specialists and support services available only at freestanding children's hospitals.
  • In 2022, CHKD opened the first inpatient psychiatric beds of Children's Pavilion, a new state-of-the-art, 14-story pediatric mental health hospital and outpatient center.
