JOB DETAILS

Patient care associates typically work at different healthcare settings where their primary job is to provide basic patient needs and comfort. They are also responsible for several patient care tasks, including bathing patients, changing the pillows and bedsheets of patients, and serving patients' meals. In some instances, PCA’s also help nurses by taking vital signs, drawing blood, administering medications, and collecting samples to be sent to labs for analysis. PCA’s can work in a variety of settings but typically work at a hospital or skilled nursing facility.  

Education/Requirements: 
  • High School education is required along with completion of a state approved formal training program. 
  • Phlebotomy Certification sometimes required
